My feature in this week's IFB's Tech Links a la Mode

I was excited to learn that my post regarding the best fashion, shopping and style apps was chosen for this week's IFB Tech Links a la Mode. This is a very strange thing, as I'd hardly consider myself technology-astute. I can barely figure out how to restart my computer when it starts to act wonky, and it usually leaves me a sweating, swearing, anxiety-ridden mess who feels like they are suffocating and OH MY GOD WHY CAN'T I GET THIS THING TO FREAKING WORK??? Creating and running my blog has been an incredible learning experience, and there's so much more I want to figure out in order to improve my blog. Such as creating buttons. If you have any tips, let me know. (Or feel like being nice and making some for me. That would be awesomesauce. Just sayin'.) Considering all this, being featured in IFB's Tech links is a really nice, if slightly bizarre, compliment.

Be sure to check out the posts from the other featured bloggers and introduce yourself to some new blogs! Here's the feature with my link:

Trends and technology move at a rapid speed these days and along with that comes unlimited choices. There’s so many styles and options to choose from in fashion and technology that we’re constantly evolving our taste to match each moment in time. This weeks Links has a collection of examples on how to take your blog to the next level. The following are a group of links with helpful advice on everything from how to work with PR people, to switching to a new blogging platform and to navigating user-generated fashion on the web. I trust that many of these links will prove to be very useful to all of you. Happy posting!

My feature in this week's IFB Links a la Mode - Week of May 5th

This week Dress With Courage was featured in IFB's Links A La Mode. IFB is a website for style, fashion and beauty bloggers containing articles, forums, polls and promotional tools. Home to thousands of members, it is an incredible resource for those interested in promoting their blogs, networking with fellow bloggers, and improving their posts.

This is my tenth feature in Links A La Mode. I'm particularly proud that a post from my Thrifting 101 series was chosen - I put a lot of work into crafting those posts every week, and now I'm in the process of writing a book on thrifting and vintage (squee!) I am so grateful to be included with such talented, stylish, and informative bloggers. Be sure to check out their posts and introduce yourself to some new blogs! Here's the feature with my link:

Tipped Off

Edited by Meghan Donovan at WIT & Whimsy

This week’s Links a La Mode demonstrates the one thing we fashion bloggers aren’t afraid to do. Give advice. With all the shopping, hunting, reading and networking we do across a multitude of channels, it’s no surprise that we develop certain skills when it comes to finding the best bargain, tracking down the ultimate vintage find or just knowing how to dress for our body type. Read up on all of this week’s posts featured in Links a la Mode for a wealth of information for everything from dos and dont’s to curbing those nasty little shopping habits we all can be guilty of here and there.

My feature in this week's IFB Links a la Mode: Week of April 28th

This week Dress With Courage was featured in IFB's Links A La Mode. IFB is a website for style, fashion and beauty bloggers containing articles, forums, polls and promotional tools. Home to thousands of members, it is an incredible resource for those interested in promoting their blogs, networking with fellow bloggers, and improving their posts. For fashion and style bloggers it's like crack. Not that I've tried it, but like I've seen on Intervention. Anyways, I've learned so much about blogging through IFB and made from pretty wonderful friends through the message boards. If you're a blogger interested in gaining followers, traffic, and ideas for future posts, don't hesitate to become an IFB member.

This is my ninth (eek!) feature in Links A La Mode, and I'm particularly proud that my post was chosen.  I am so grateful to be included with such talented, stylish, and informative bloggers. Here's the feature with my link:

More than Meets the Eye

Edited by Fajr Muhammad at Stylish Thought

When you visit a fashion blog you often see a stylish blogger posing in a perfectly, put together outfit with gorgeous scenery. What you don’t see is the work that goes into curating and maintaining a fashion blog. This week the theme across IFB was outfit posts: what deems an outfit worthy, what goes into creating a stunning visual post and ultimately the comments (some not so nice) that we receive as style bloggers. Ultimately, blogging is a way to express our love for fashion and personal style but as this week’s links can attest to, there is much more to fashion blogging than meets the eye.

This is my eighth feature in Links A La Mode, and I'm particularly proud that my post was chosen.  It wasn't easy for me to share my personal experience with anorexia and competition, but I'm a big believer in blogging honestly and sharing who I truly am in my posts. Operation #Uplift

Edited by Vahni of Grit & Glamour

Oh no. It’s The-Coveted-gate all over again. As much as I wish I could start this week’s roundup with a glowing review of positivity, the sad truth is that the blogosphere is rife with accusations of trademark infringement, side-eye, competition, and bitchiness. Ladies and gents, it is time for this to stop.

I’ll never understand why people feel the need to tear others down, or pass another’s content—or identity—off as their own. Blogging dynamo Cece of LoveBrownSugar noted this week that she’s had enough of the side-eye in fashion, and frankly, so have I. Last week, Cece issued an #Uplift Challenge: Find at least one female you don’t know personally and tell her something that makes her feel beautiful. Don’t get “#Uplift”? Be sure to read Beautifully Invisible‘s post—a Twitterless blogger is like Lady Gaga without a mic!

As you explore this week’s list and head into the weekend, I leave you with this thought: “Women with wings,” Sacramento, of Mis Papelicos, wrote, “use their wings not only to fly, but to cuddle, to shelter, to back, to push and to hug.” What are you using your wings for?

Making it Your Own

Edited by Vahni of Grit & Glamour

Wow…I’m a Links à la Mode editor…can you believe it?! So thrilled to have the opportunity to discover new blogs and compelling posts to share with all of you. That said, give me two minutes in the pulpit, and my “better blog” sermon starts welling up, totally involuntarily. So allow me a moment to share what I am looking for when I review submissions. It’s pretty simple: Be creative and original, tie your post into beauty or fashion, use proper grammar and punctuation (spellcheck and proofread before publishing), and credit your photo sources. Always.

And on to the list…bloggers were in deep thought this week, pondering ethical fashion and feminism, male gaze and Marthettes. But in case you need to escape the heavy stuff, there is: denim! Happy reading, and as you peruse and comment on this week’s posts, why stop there? For every comment you leave, why not check out the blog of the person who commented above you and comment there too? It’s a great way to expand your mind—and your readership.

It’s Getting Hot In Here
